Police arrest woman in connection with fatal hit-and-run
GILBERT, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Police have arrested a pregnant woman in connection to the fatal hit-and-run of a bicyclist on Monday night.
Gilbert police have arrested 22-year-old Yongela Ward after receiving a tip from a neighbor about a damaged vehicle matching the one in the hit-and-run.
After serving a search warrant, police found Ward's vehicle inside her garage.
On Monday, 28-year-old Erik Alsaker was killed after he was hit by a vehicle while riding his bicycle near the intersection of Ranch House Parkway and Queen Creek Road.
Ward has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident, which is a Class 3 felony.
She was not booked into jail due to her pregnancy.
