Police investigating string of armed robberies

Police are investigating three armed robberies that happened early Wednesday morning.

Phoenix police say the robberies took place between 2 and 4 a.m. in southwest Phoenix. The first happened near 6300 W. Baseline Rd., where a man was robbed at gunpoint by three-to-four African American men in a van.

The second robbery happened near 9500 W. Lower Buckeye where two men were robbed of a cell phone. The victims described the suspects as Hispanic men, who covered their faces with bandanas and were armed with a shotgun, handgun and pipe.

One of the victims suffered minor injuries after being struck with the pipe.

The third incident happened near 9500 W. Broadway, where a man was confronted by multiple suspects in a van. One of the suspects is described as an African American man wearing a white t-shirt and red basketball shorts. The suspect was also armed with a shotgun.

As the victim drove away from the suspects, one of the suspects fired gunshots, but the victim wasn't hurt.

Detectives are investigating if the three incidents are related.
