Police: Man found shot to death inside Scottsdale apartment

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (FOX 10) - Police in Scottsdale identified a man who was found fatally shot at an apartment complex in what is being investigated as a homicide.

Officers responded to a welfare check on Saturday afternoon after a female went to her brother's residence at the Scottsdale Highlands Apartments and discovered broken glass outside of the home.

When officers arrived at the scene near Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd. and Thompson Peak Parkway, they attempted to make contact and after they didn't receive a response, they entered the residence.

Upon entry, they discovered that 26-year-old Richard Chavez had been shot to death.

Police say it doesn't appear the shooting was a random attack, but they haven't disclosed if there are any possible suspects in the homicide case.
