Police: Man shot during robbery at nail salon has died; search for suspect continues

PHOENIX (FOX 10) - Phoenix Police officials said Thursday that man who was shot during an attempted robbery at a nail salon near 51st Avenue and McDowell Road has died.

According to Phoenix police, the shooting happened just after 9:00 a.m., at Idols Nail and Spa. Two people affiliated with the salon were inside at the time, and the person who was shot, 45-year-old Dung Tang, was first listed in extremely critical condition, but died Thursday.

The other victim, identified by police as a 47-year-old woman, was not hurt. Police did not release the woman's identity.

"I saw a woman crying and asking for help," said Aldo Martinez. "I got closer and she said stop that guy."

Martinez chased after the suspect until he got away, and then, he went back into the salon to help.

"Seeing someone trying to revive their loved one is probably the worst feeling I could ever have, especially being married. She tried and I helped to apply pressure. It was hard," said Martinez.

The suspect is described by police on Wednesday as a black man, between the ages of 20 and 30, about 5'9" to 6' tall, with a medium build. At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing a white t-shirt, and dark pants or shorts.
