Police: Patrons restrained shooting suspect, helped victim

SURPRISE, Ariz. (KSAZ/AP) - Police say one man is dead and a suspect is in custody following a shooting at a sports bar on Wednesday night.

According to Sgt. Tim Klarkowski, the shooting happened at around 11:15 p.m. at the Tailgaters sports bar located near Bell and Reems Road.

When officers arrived at the sports bar, patrons were physically restraining 28-year-old Troy Paille, while other patrons were performing first aid to a 27-year-old Anthony Kenny who had been shot.

Kenny was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Investigators say Kenny and Paille were associates and had previous disputes in the past. Investigators believe this was a targeted attack by Paille on Kenny and an isolated incident.

Paille has been booked into jail on charges of first-degree murder, misconduct involving weapons, and possession of marijuana.
