Police up reward in Cottonwood bank robbery

In Cottonwood the talk of the town has been a bank robbery that still remains a mystery.

"Big shock, that someone can come out here and rob a bank in the middle of the night, pretty crazy," said a resident.

Cottonwood Police say on January 27 around 1 a.m. someone was able to get inside the Bank of America branch, get into the vault, and walk away with a ton of cash.

"There was seemingly no forced entry into the bank, into the vault room, and $350,000 was taken from the bank, that's kind of unheard of," said a police spokesperson.

The only images of the robber are blurry pictures taken from the ATM machine. The robber moved some of the security cameras so they weren't able to record the crime.

"The suspect seemed to know the inner-workings of the bank, and the inner-workings of the security," said the spokesperson.

Police say the robber was in the bank for about 3 hours. They're upping a reward to $20,000 hoping someone has the vital piece of information to bring the suspect down.

"We have quite a few leads, quite a few suspects, the reward has been upped to $20,000 just because our suspect pool is quite large, and we're trying to narrow that down a bit," said the spokesperson.
