The Wickenburg Police Department says 25-year-old Mark Facio was wanted out of New Mexico and was taken into custody on Tuesday.

Police say they encountered Facio on Monday night while assisting the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office along Highway 60 near milepost 111. Police say Facio fled the scene in a vehicle with a female passenger and child.

Facio crashed the car, with the woman and child still inside, and tried to carjack another vehicle at a nearby gas station, but instead fled on foot to Hassayampa River.
