Rising temps bring more bees to the Valley

As the temps go up, so do the chances of seeing these guys...

"Well, bees like the spring time, that's when the flowers bloom and the nectar starts flowing and the activity just skyrockets," Dave Petersen said.

Dave Peterson, head of the Arizona Beekeepers Organization, says even though many fear the sting, bees are incredibly important to us and the environment.

"When a bee stings ya... pumps that venom into you," he said. "Just to show you, in one wee's time... that's all they do is make beeswax and honey."

Dave says caring for bees is easy because they do all of the work.

"These bottom two boxes are the brew boxes, that's generally where the eggs are laid and some honey," he said.

If you find yourself in a swarm of bees, even though it may be hard, keep calm and don't panic.

"A lot of people, their tendency is to go whap!" he said. "Back away."
