Several pets perish in Tucson house fire
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Firefighters say several pets including dogs, a turtle and a chicken died in a Tucson house fire.
Fire Capt. Chris Jurvig says the blaze broke out Friday night and crews found smoke emanating from several openings in the home's attic.
Jurvig says firefighters searched the home and found three dogs, the turtle and the chicken. All of the animals had suffered smoke inhalation.
However, firefighters were able to rescue one dog found inside.
Four other dogs were found in the backyard unharmed.
The homeowner was also not injured.
Jurvig says the cause of the fire is still being investigated but the damage was limited to the kitchen area.
