Sheriff's Office: Officer fatally shoots man pointing BB gun

KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - Mohave County authorities say a Kingman police officer fatally shot a 31-year-old man pointing a BB gun at another officer as the officers responded to a domestic violence report.

The Sheriff's Office described the BB gun as a full-size replica of a Colt semi-automatic pistol.

The office said it's investigating the Wednesday night shooting at the Kingman Police Department's request.

According to MCSO, Ryan Dean Burgess came out of the home where he lived with his mother and pointed the gun at Officer Wayne Hollon.

The office said Officer Chaz Truver ordered Burgess to drop the weapon and then fired several shots, fatally wounding Burgess.

The office said Truver joined the Police Department last July after graduating from a police academy and that Hollon was his training officer.
