Talking Stick Resort closed after 'extensive' flooding

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (KSAZ/AP) - Talking Stick Resort will remain closed throughout the week after Sunday's monsoon storm led to "extensive flooding" and power outages.

The entire resort has been evacuated since 2 A.M. Saturday morning.

"Last night's severe storm and flooding caused Talking Stick's main generators and back-up generators to malfunction, resulting in the complete loos of power across the property," according to the resort.

Resort officials say guests have been relocated to nearby hotels and all reservations and events have been canceled until further notice.

Officials say the resort is expected to be closed until Sunday, August 19.

For casino visitors, officials say that gaming chips can be exchanged for cash when the hotel reopens. Slot tickets can be redeemed during reopening as well.

The casino said on Twitter that will issue a refund to people who had registered to compete in the Arizona State Poker Championship.
