Teen driver arrested in crash that killed Glendale man

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a Glendale man has died after he was struck by a speeding driver.

Police say a vehicle traveling Thursday around 8:30 p.m. near 65th and Glendale avenues changed lanes to pass another car. The vehicle then returned to its original lane. That's when it struck 53-year-old Jesse Tucker, who was crossing mid-block.

Police say Tucker was taken to a hospital where he died of his injuries.

Investigators say the driver, 18-year-old Jose Vazquez Flores, of Phoenix, was driving more than 20 mph (32 kph) above the speed limit.

According to police Friday, he has been booked on suspicion of manslaughter, accidental death while driving and other charges.

It was not immediately known if Vazquez Flores had an attorney.
