Tucson man arrested after leaving dogs unattended in hot truck
TUCSON, Ariz. (KSAZ) - A man was arrested after leaving six dogs unattended in his truck during 100-plus degree weather on Wednesday morning.
The Pima County Sheriff's Department says 65-year-old James Hutchinson left four dogs in crates in his truck bed and two inside the cab while the truck was parked at a Red Roof Inn.
The temperature outside was 102 degrees when sheriff's deputies responded to the scene. Officials from the Pima Animal Care Center were also called to the scene to pick up the dogs.
Initially, deputies could not find Hutchinson, but when he returned to the hotel about two hours later, he was arrested.
He has been charged with six counts of animal cruelty.
