Two shot at overnight party

PHOENIX - One man is dead and a woman is wounded after a suspect opened fire at a party near 39th Avenue and McDowell on Saturday morning.

Police responded to a home near 39th Avenue and Lynwood at about 1:15am in response to a shooting. When they arrived, police say they found a 20-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wound injuries.

The man was found in the street and died on the scene. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to survive her shooting injuries.

Officers say there was a party at the home and several people are being interviewed about the deadly shooting. Police are trying to determine a motive for the crime.
