Two students arrested at school for assault and terroristic threat

Katy ISD confirms that two students from McDonald Junior High School were arrested at school Tuesday.

One student was charged with assault of a public servant, the other for an alleged terroristic threat against a school district employee.

FOX 26 spoke with the mother of the student charged with assault.

She says her son had taken video of a student being beaten up as part of a gang initiation at the school.

When a teacher discovered the video, Kennie Solano says the teacher snatched the phone away from him.

Then her son allegedly got into a physical altercation trying to get his phone back.

Solano said her son already served a 3-day suspension for taking video of the bathroom brawl.

Katy ISD has not given any more details about the student arrested for terroristic threat, but released the following statement:

In connection with an ongoing investigation regarding an alleged gang-related incident that occurred on September 21, two McDonald Junior High students were arrested on campus this morning. One arrest was in relation to an alleged physical altercation between a student and teacher that took place on Monday, September 21, 2015 following that incident at approximately 10 a.m. The teacher filed charges against that student for assault on a public servant.

The other student mentioned was arrested today for an alleged terroristic threat against a school district employee which was made on Tuesday, September 22, 2015.

A Katy ISD Police Department investigation concerning both of these arrests is still ongoing at this time.
