Valle Vista water contains elevated arsenic levels
KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - Valle Vista residents may have to find alternative sources of drinking water due to high levels of arsenic in the area's water supply.
The Kingman Daily Miner reports Truxton Canyon Water Company issued notices concerning drinking water to residents in May.
Results from April 7 routine testing show the water system exceeded the maximum containment level for arsenic.
The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has filed a civil complaint and preliminary injunction against Truxton for high arsenic levels. Truxton and the department agreed to resolve the issue on May 27.
The agreement requires Truxton to complete an arsenic treatment system and provide an alternate source of drinking water to its customers.
The company has started providing reverse-osmosis filtered water at its offices in the Hualapai Valley east of Kingman.
