Published September 16, 2026 10:32 AM MST

A Toronto-area police officer located a fleeing suspect and managed to sneak up on him before making a dramatic takedown.

The backstory:

The York Regional Police were attempting to locate the man who refused to stay at the scene of a vehicle crash after being told.

Officers told the man he was being arrested before he fled.

Timeline:

One officer was able to locate the motorcyclist a short distance away after he became distracted and parked on the shoulder, apparently attempting to taunt the pursuing officers.

The officer pulled behind the suspect, exited his vehicle and crept behind him. Once he got close enough, he was able to tackle the suspect, taking him down and placing him in custody.

Charges:

The suspect will now be facing charges of failure to stop after accident, flight from peace officer, drive no insurance, accident - fail to disclose particulars and permit/use unauthorized plates.
