WATCH: McDonald's believes it can make its "happy meal" even happier by removing preservatives

McDonald's believes it can make its "happy meal" even happier for its customers by removing certain ingredients from its McNuggets and hamburger buns.

The company said that as of Monday its chicken nuggets and several breakfast menu items no longer have artificial preservatives. Mickey D's also plans to eliminate high fructose corn syrup from all it's hamburger buns by the end of summer.

These additives have been linked to health risks including cancer, hormone imbalances, and infertility.

There are still artificial ingredients in many other menu items at The Golden Arches, but a spokesperson said that figuring out a way to remove it from the ever popular chicken nuggets was a priority. The company has been developing the new "preservative-free" recipe since earlier this year at a lab in Seattle. Yeah, because nothing says "I'm loving it" like food created in a lab.

McDonald's has also promised to use only cage-free eggs by 2025, and they are testing other "drastic" measures like using fresh beef instead of frozen patties. What a revolutionary idea Ronald! Until then we are perfectly fine with the Hamburgler eating our happy meals for us.
