Wet weather on the way: Outdoor events prep for a soggy weekend

PHOENIX -- While much of the remnants of Hurricane Sergio are passing by us, another system looks to bring rain this weekend and that could cause problems for many of the outdoor festivals.

October means festivals and this weekend has plenty of them, but with Mother Nature cooperate? There's plenty of rain in the forecast.

The Phoenix Greek Festival kicks off Friday night and runs through the weekend, rain or shine.

"Everything is tented, all of our tables and chairs and seating is under cover. We are ready," said Sand Meris.

If that's all Greek to you, maybe tacos are more your thing in Scottsdale at the Salt River Fields. $2 tacos might help put less of a damper on the weekend.

"So we're going into our ninth year and people always say 'God, it's so hot I wish you'd move it back,' so here we are and it's a little chilly, a little rainy. Rain or shine event and we're not going to cancel unless things get dangerous.. we're talking lightning, heavy winds," said David Tyda, co-founder of the Arizona Taco Festival.

And if all else fails, an Oktoberfest celebration with Four Peaks at Tempe Town Lake could do the trick. With plenty of international flavor and visitors, a little rain can be washed away with a brew and a brat.

"I think we have a 100 percent chance of rain tomorrow, but it doesn't matter. Most of the areas are covered," said Four Peaks head brewmaster Andy Ingram.

Hermann Goss, who is visiting from Regensburg, Germany added, "We don't talk about this, like this is a rain, it's only a little bit wet!"
