Wife of fallen Phoenix police officer pens heartfelt letter

The wife of a Phoenix police officer who was killed in the line of duty has written a heartfelt letter to thank the community.

Kristen Glasser wrote a letter thanking the community after her husband, Officer David Glasser, was shot while responding to a burglary call in Laveen on May 18.

Officer Glasser died from his injuries a day later.

In the letter, Kristen Glasser writes:

From the moment I received the devastating news about my husband, I have been given an unbelievable amount of genuine love and support from so many people. I want to take a moment to express my sincerest gratitude to all who have prayed for my family this past week. I know that the strength I need, can only come from God.

My kids and I lost our most favorite person. David was an incredible husband and father, and the pain we are feeling is indescribable. However, the love and support we've received eases a little of that pain - so thank you.

My thoughts and prayers are also with all of the other law enforcement families, as I know during these times it brings back the fear and realities of the job they courageously go into each day.

I also want everyone to know how much I appreciate the support from the Phoenix Police Department, the medical staff at St. Joseph's Hospital, the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association (PLEA), The 100 Club, and a host of private organizations and entities, the public safety officers and the entire community that have wrapped their arms around my family. The support has been overwhelming in the best possible way.

Thank you for your encouragement and all you have done to honor David.
Sincerely,
Kristen Glasser

Officer David Glasser will be laid to rest following a funeral service in Peoria on Thursday.
