Winds blow trampoline through Gilbert backyards, into pool

GILBERT, Ariz. (FOX 10) - It was so windy here in Gilbert yesterday, Wednesday, that a massive trampoline actually bounced through two backyards, ending up in a swimming pool.

"I knew it had to get from the house to the west of me to the house to the east of me and the only logical thing was it had to come through my yard to get there, Sara Do said.

When Sara Do checked her Nest-cam footage, that's exactly what she saw. The full-sized trampoline bouncing through her backyard, right on top of her children's playset.

"I slide down the slide and I go through the red tube and I come in the house and go back out," Quincy Lyn said.

"This piece up here normally goes up here to hold all of this together and it came off," Do said.

Do says her younger children normally play right where the trampoline landed, but they were at a dental appointment around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon when wind speeds in Gilbert likely reached upwards of 35 miles per hour.

"My daughters did ask to play outside, but because of the weather, the air quality was really bad yesterday," Margaret Barlow said. "I told her she wasn't allowed to play outside."

Neighbor Margaret Barlow, the trampoline owner, shutters to think what would have happened if her 5-and-3-year-old daughters had been allowed outdoors.

"I am glad they weren't on it because had they been on it, I don't think their weight would have held it down," she said. "I just can't believe how well it held up."

Both mothers are breathing a sigh of relief and are grateful no one was hurt when those winds wreaked havoc on their quiet Gilbert neighborhood.

"Divine intervention, that's the only thing I can say to explain it because I don't believe there's any accidents in life at all," Do said. "Everything happens for a reason."

All of the neighbors plan to rally and get together to attempt to lift that trampoline out of the pool within the next few days.
