Titan submersible tragedy: Hearings reveal new details
The U.S. Coast Guard held its 5th day of hearings into the OceanGate Titan submersible tragedy. OceanGate staff testified to a coast guard panel that Stockton Rush, the company's owner, regularly bypassed safety precautions in the interest of getting the sub in the water as quickly as possible. Just days before the sub failed, there were issues with its ballast, which kept the vessel stable. There were even cracks spotted in the hull. The lead engineer says it was so dangerous he refused to get in himself.
