1 dead, another critically injured in double-stabbing

One man has died and another is in extremely critical condition following a double-stabbing in Phoenix early Wednesday morning.

Phoenix police say two men were stabbed during an altercation involving multiple people in an empty lot just north of a light rail platform near 19th Avenue and Camelback Road just before 2 a.m.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man dead in the empty lot and a 22-year-old man at the light rail platform, who was critically injured as a result of the stabbing.

After interviewing several witnesses, investigators found an investigative lead in the case a few blocks away from the scene. This person has been taken into police custody for questioning.

The light rail has reopened at 19th Avenue and Camelback.
