2 arrested in Yuma after stealing car at gunpoint

YUMA, Ariz. (AP) - Yuma police have arrested two men accused of carjacking a vehicle and driving it across state lines before being caught back in Yuma.

Police spokesman Joe Franklin says Michael John Kinale and Douglas Hayes allegedly approached a parked car around 1:30 a.m. Saturday in Yuma.

Kinale and Douglas are suspected of forcing two people at gunpoint to drive the vehicle into Winterhaven, California.

The two victims were released there and the suspects fled in the vehicle.

The Imperial County Sheriff's Office, which was contacted by the victims, located the car and pursued it all the way back into Yuma.

Franklin says Yuma police assisted and the suspects ended up crashing the car.

They were taken into custody without incident.

It's not clear yet what charges they face.
