2 children hit by SUV while getting ice cream in valley neighborhood
PHOENIX - Phoenix fire crews say two children were badly hurt when they were struck by an SUV after buying ice cream in the area of 67th Avenue and Earll.
A spokesperson for Phoenix Fire Department says a 7-year-old girl and 8-year-old boy had just purchased ice cream from a truck near 67th Avenue and Earll when they were hit by an SUV.
Both were rushed to a trauma center in critical condition.
Phoenix police say the driver who struck the children remained on the scene, but police say the driver was arrested on unrelated charges.
The two children were reportedly conscious and breathing when they were taken to the hospital.
Officers say on Saturday night that the boy is listed in stable condition, and the girl remains in critical condition.
