3 pipe bombs found in Lake Mohave rendered safe

LAKE MEAD NATIONAL RECREATION AREA, Ariz. (AP) - Three apparent pipe bombs that were found under the waters of Lake Mohave have been recovered and rendered safe by a police bomb squad.

The National Park Service says a visitor spotted suspicious pipes underwater on Sunday afternoon south of Katherine Landing on the Arizona side of the lake. The area was closed as a precaution.

The area was searched Monday by Park Service employees and support staff and three devices were pulled from the water. Technicians from the Kingman Police Department and Arizona Department of Public Safety neutralized the suspected explosives.

Officials believe all the devices have been found and the area has re-opened.
