Accidental shooting at gun show

One man was accidentally shot at the Arizona State Fairgrounds on Saturday morning, and troopers with Arizona's Department of Public Safety are investigating.

A spokesperson for Phoenix Fire Department says a 22-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound in his abdomen after what appeared to be an accidental shooting at the Arizona State Fairgrounds near 17th Avenue and McDowell Road. The incident occurred at the Crossroads of the West gun show at about 11:30am.

There are conflicting reports from witnesses about whether the accidental discharge was caused by a customer or a vendor at the gun show. Witnesses say the shooting happened in the commercial exhibit building.

Phoenix Police say the area is secure. The fairgrounds is a state property, so detectives with the Arizona Department of Public Safety are investigating the incident.
