Arizona counties challenged to help hydrate homeless
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Elected county officials have been challenged to donate a case of water each to help keep the homeless hydrated this summer.
The challenge comes from the Arizona Association of Counties.
Executive director Jen Marson says the association wanted to help people in Pima County where its annual leadership conference is being held later this month.
She says the water will be delivered to the St. Francis Cooling Center in Tucson on June 24. The center offers homeless people an escape from the heat.
Arizona has more than 330 elected county officials. Marson says 212 cases of water had been donated as of late Friday afternoon, while other officials plan to bring water to the conference.
