Armed suspect arrested at Phoenix library after fight

PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police have arrested an armed suspect after a fight with security guards at a downtown library.

Police Sgt. Vince Lewis said Sunday 36-year-old Cedric Broger has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of criminal trespassing, illegal possession of a weapon and unrelated felony warrants.

Police arrested Broger at about 2 p.m. Saturday after responding to a report of a fight and shots fired at the Burton Barr Central Library.

Lewis says no shots were fired but Broger produced a firearm during a struggle with security after he'd been asked to leave for shouting profanities at staff.

Broger allegedly struck one of the guards and bit another before they were able to pin him down.

It's not clear if has a lawyer or will be appointed one at a pending court appearance.
