Bicyclist killed in Mesa

A bicyclist was hit and killed in Mesa on Saturday.

Mesa Police say the driver of a silver BMW was heading through the intersection of Alma School and Southern, and that the light turned yellow when the car entered the intersection. Police say the bicyclist entered the intersection at that point and the BMW and bicycle collided.

The bicyclist was rushed to a nearby hospital and later passed away. The area of Alma School and Southern was shut down on Saturday while police investigated.
