CBP officers seize nearly 100 pounds of meth worth $288k at Arizona-Mexico border

Two men were arrested in connection to two separate failed methamphetamine smuggling attempts. The drugs weighed nearly 100 pounds.

On Tuesday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers say they referred a 20-year-old Yuma, Arizona man for additional questioning as he attempted to enter the United States from Mexico in his Lexus sedan. A CBP canine later discovered more than 17 pounds of meth in the car's frame rails, worth more than $51,000.

According to officers, on Wednesday, a 21-year-old man, also from Yuma, was referred for further inspection of his Lincoln sedan.

"A CBP canine led officers to almost 79 pounds of meth, which was scattered throughout the vehicle. The drugs have an estimated value of nearly $237,000," stated officials.

The drugs, vehicles and the men were turned over to U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.

The suspects' names were not released.
