Closing arguments heard in Chalice Zeitner trial
PHOENIX (KSAZ) - She's accused of faking Cancer to get a state funded abortion, closing arguments were held in the high profile case of Chalice Zeitner.
Just before the closing arguments in her trial began this morning, Chalice Zeitner waved her right to be present in the courtroom and left before the jury came in.
"Over all this time, over all these years why does she continue to insist that she has Cancer? The reason is because she believes it, that's what she believes to be the situation. It's not a misrepresentation, it's not a lie if you believe what you're saying," said attorney Adam Schwartz.
"The evidence is clear that Ms. Zeitner made misrepresentations about her treatment. Not that she believed that she had Cancer, but clear misrepresentations," said prosecutor Scott Blake.
"This is a sophisticated con artist, she knows when to turn it on and when to turn it off. She clicked that switch. When it was time to grieve, she grieved," said Blake.
The jury will not deliberate and come to a verdict.
