Crash shuts down Loop 303, sends 5 to hospital

Authorities with the Arizona Department of Transportation continue to investigate a serious crash on Loop 303 and Grand Avenue that left five people injured Saturday afternoon.

Around 1:00 p.m., two people were seriously injured and three others suffered minor injuries when four vehicles collided on Loop 303 and US 60, or Grand Avenue.

The seriously injured patients had to be flown to a local hospital for treatment, according to Timothy Case, spokesman for the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

At this time, all lanes on Loop 303 are closed and Case says the closure is expected to last until 9:00 p.m. The southbound lanes of US 60 are also closed.
