Energizer rechargeable lanterns recalled due to overheating

Published January 16, 2026 4:50 AM MST

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall for Energizer Large Power Indicator Lanterns due to the potential overheating of the installed lithium-ion batteries. (CPSC)

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a recall for Energizer® Large Power Indicator Lanterns due to the potential overheating of the installed lithium-ion batteries.

Dig deeper:

The CPSC says the recall is for model BGAAL9 and SKU number 039800143341 or 039800143334. The model code is located on the bottom of the light, on the removable cover that provides access to the charging cord storage area and the SKU is located on the packaging.

The lanterns were sold at Meijer, Blain, and Fleet Wholesale stores nationwide and online at Amazon.com between January and November 2025.

What you can do:

The CPSC says consumers should stop using the lanterns and contact Energizer at  800-383-7323 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or  by  email at customersupport@energizer.com for instructions on how to receive a full refund.

Do not throw the recalled lithium-ion battery or device in the trash as lithium-ion batteries must be disposed of differently than other batteries, because they present a greater risk of fire. The CPSC says your municipal household hazardous waste (HHW) collection center may accept the recalled lithium-ion battery or device for disposal.
