Actress Evangeline Lilly revealed that she has suffered brain damage following a fall last year.

What they're saying:

"Verdict's in...I do have brain damage from my tbi," she posted on Instagram. "Comforting to know my cognitive decline isn't just peri-menopause, discomforting to know what an uphill battle it will be to try to reverse the deficiencies."

"The results came back from the scans, and I missed every area, and my brain is functioning at a decreased capacity," she said in a posted video.

The backstory:

According to FOX News, Lilly was hospitalized last year after fainting during a trip to the beach and falling face-first into a boulder, resulting in facial injuries.

The 45-year-old Marvel and "Lost" star shared photos of her bloodied face on social media and described the incident on her Substack, noting that doctors focused more on identifying the cause of her blackout than on stitching her wounds.

Lilly explained that she has experienced unexplained fainting and "absent" spells since childhood, and despite extensive medical testing over the years—including blood work and glucose monitoring—doctors have never been able to determine a clear diagnosis.

Hypoglycemia has largely been ruled out, and medical professionals told her that many people with similar blackout episodes never receive a definitive explanation.
