Ex-POW Lynch to appear at film screening in Buckeye

BUCKEYE, Ariz. (AP) - Former prisoner of war Jessica Lynch will be in Arizona next month to screen her acting debut.

Officials at Liberty United Methodist Church in Buckeye say Lynch will be a guest Aug. 7 when the church shows "Virtuous," a Christian movie that follows the lives of 10 different women.

The movie also co-stars "CHiPs" actor Erik Estrada.

At 19, Lynch was captured after her Army unit took a wrong turn and came under attack in Iraq in 2003.

Eleven American soldiers were killed and six were captured, including Lynch. Her experience in Iraq is loosely depicted in the film.

Lynch was also in the same unit as Lori Piestewa, a Tuba City native who was the first female soldier to die during the Iraq invasion.
