Exploring Proposition 123

Voters are being asked to make a big decision when it comes to funding education in Arizona, it's Proposition 123.

It has to do with the amount of money being taken from a permanent state land trust to fund education. When Arizona became a state they were given 11 million acres by the Federal Government to sell or lease, and to take that money, create a fund, and invest it.

The returns on that investment would then go to fund state schools forever. Kind of a like a 401K for education.

But imagine if you have a 401K and you have a big important bill you have to pay, do you withdraw money from your 401K to pay that bill?

That is the what voters are being asked to decide.
