Fatal crash closes Grand Avenue, knocks out power
PHOENIX (KSAZ) - One person has been killed after a pickup truck struck a power pole and rolled while driving on Grand Avenue early Friday morning.
The Phoenix Police Department tells Fox 10 that the truck was rear-ended by a white vehicle at about 1:45 a.m. The collision caused the truck to strike a power pole and roll onto its side. The driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene.
As a result of the crash, Grand was closed in both directions from 35th to 43rd Avenues during the morning commute. A crew from SRP was on the scene to restore power in the area.
The driver of the white vehicle remained on the scene after the crash and it appears speed and impairment may be a factor in the crash.
