FDA recalls hand soap sold in 15 states due to risk of bacteria

The Food and Drug Administration issued a report for a recall of six hand soap products distributed to 15 states because of potential bacteria contamination.
Intercom Chemical Co. of St. Louis initiated a voluntary recall for the items with the FDA noting that two soap goods are possibly contaminated with several types of Pseudomonas and Serratia bacteria, including P. aeruginosa and S. marcescens, which can cause infections.

FDA officials gave Class II status to the soap products. This designation is issued when using or being exposed to a product may cause temporary or serious medical problems.

- Vestis Foaming Hand Soap, Fresh Pear Scent: 33.8 fluid ounces, 225 cases.
- Laura Lynn Honey Apple Crisp Liquid Hand Soap: 8 fluid ounces, 301 cases.
- Laura Lynn Foaming Pear Scent Hand Soap with Moisturizers, 7.5 fluid ounces: 294 cases.
