Flagstaff schools remain closed after storm departs
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - The winter storm that dumped heavy snow on northern Arizona in the past couple of days has departed but public schools remain closed in the region's biggest city.
Flagstaff Unified School District says its schools are closed Tuesday due to road conditions, inaccessibility of some outlying areas and the weather forecast.
The National Weather Service said scattered rain and showers are expected in the region Tuesday and Tuesday night, with possible additional snow accumulations of 1-3 inches at elevations above 6,500 feet.
Forecasters say dry weather returns to northern Arizona starting Wednesday.
