Timeline:
Briggs was appointed as interim chief of police in August 2019 as a replacement for Rick St. John, who was retiring.

In late December of the same year, Briggs' interim appointment as police chief became permanent.
Glendale city officials say Briggs' law enforcement career spanned over 30 years. His last day as chief is Friday, February 28.
