Man arrested in connection with fatal Phoenix stabbing

Phoenix Police has made an arrest, in connection with a fatal stabbing that happened Tuesday afternoon.

According to a statement released by police Wednesday, the suspect, identified as 58-year-old Israel Aguilera, was arrested near the scene, at the 900 block of Hatcher Street, and admitted to stabbing the victim.

The incident reportedly took place outside of the Sunnyslope Family Service Center, and police responded to a stabbing call at around 4:00 p.m., and the victim was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

According to police, witnesses had scattered after the incident, but were later located by officers. The suspect, along with the victim, were reportedly in some type of altercation or argument at the time of the stabbing.

Aguilera has been booked into jail, and is facing a count of 2nd Degree Murder.
