Man Charged in Deaths of 3 Heavy Metal Band Members

An Athens man faces vehicular homicide charges after investigators said he caused a crash that killed three people.

Georgia State Patrol troopers said Sergio Jose Quesada, 28, fell asleep at the wheel causing a van with 12 members of two heavy metal bands to drive off the road and crash. The crash happened last April on Interstate 85 in Jackson County.

Atlanta-based Khaotika and Wormreich, from Huntsville, Ala., were the two bands sharing the ride in the 15-passanger van. Nicholas Crisostomo, 25, of Round Hill, Va.; Ian McKinney, 30, of Madison, Tenn.; and Paul J. Truesdell, 29, of Mableton, Ga. were killed in the crash.

Both bands were traveling from a gig in Spartanburg, S.C. to a concert in Atlanta.

Quesada also faces DUI and failure to maintain lane charges.
