Man struck and killed by passing train in Phoenix, PD says
PHOENIX - A 28-year-old man was struck and killed by a passing train on Saturday, the Phoenix Police Department said.
What we know:
The Jan. 25 crash happened just after 7:30 a.m. near Grand Avenue and Indian School Road.
When officers responded, they found Joevon Pringle, 28. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Phoenix firefighters.
What they're saying:
"Detectives took over the investigation and learned that Pringle was lying on the tracks when the conductor of the train had struck him. Additional details about the collision remain part of the ongoing investigation," Phoenix Police Sgt. Brian Bower said.
What we don't know:
Police haven't said what led up to Pringle lying on the railroad tracks before being struck.
It's not known if his death was a suicide.
