Maryvale golf course gets a makeover

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - One of the oldest golf courses in the valley gets a makeover, not just a facelift, but a total reconstruction.

Maryvale Golf Course which sits on 59th Avenue and Indian School Road is now the Grand Canyon University Golf Course.

Grand Canyon is now managing the course for the City of Phoenix, taxpayers will no longer lose money keeping it up.

The school spent millions turning the course into one you'd expect to find at a private club, and golfers will still pay muni fees to play it.

The course is set to open this Friday.
