Minneapolis cops buy groceries, light bulbs after heartaching discovery
MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - To protect with courage, to serve with compassion. That's the motto of the Minneapolis Police Department, and that's exactly what the officers of Car 530 did Saturday night.
Officers gave a ride to a 90-year-old man who was involved in a car accident, but discovered he had no working light bulbs in his house and no food in his refrigerator. Following the accident, he also didn't have a car to go the store, so the officers made a trip to the grocery store to purchase a bag of groceries and some light bulbs.
After lighting the man's home and stocking his refrigerator, the officers contacted Meals on Wheels to ensure he gets a regular supply of food.
