Motorcyclist killed in crash involving Glendale Police vehicle

GLENDALE, Ariz. (FOX 10) - Glendale Police say a motorcyclist has died following a collision involving a Glendale Police vehicle.

Police say the incident happened Saturday night at the intersection of Grand and W. Myrtle Avenues.

When the traffic arrows turned green on Grand Ave. for both directions, the officer began to turn as a motorcycle going the opposite direction traveled straight ahead. The two collided.

Glendale Police said the officer radioed in the accident and began treating the motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet.

Investigators identify the motorcyclist has Edward Sanchez, 41, who died at the hospital. The Glendale officer was not injured.

The cause of the crash in under investigation.
