Motorcyclist killed on I-17

A motorcyclist was hit and killed in an overnight crash on I-17 and Dixileta Drive. The victim who was killed has been identified as 59-year-old Marvin Eugene Saylor of Glendale.

According to Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers, the motorcycle was on the right side of southbound I-17 at about 10:30pm Friday night. Saylor reportedly walked across the freeway and phoned his family. He then ran across several lanes of traffic, and stopped in one of the lanes.

Saylor was hit and killed by a Nissan Altima. His daughter arrived on the scene to help him, and had arrived when the crash occurred.

The driver remained on the scene and no impairment was involved. The freeway was shut down while DPS troopers investigated.

I-17 reopened at about 5am on Saturday.
