New measles case reported in Pinal County facility

PHOENIX (AP) -- Arizona health officials have confirmed a new case of measles, bringing the total number of cases connected to a Pinal County detention facility to 18.

State Department of Health Services officials said Friday that there are 19 cases total including one in Maricopa County.

Pinal County Public Health Services spokesman Joe Pyritz says the cases include 11 detainees and seven staff workers at a private detention facility in Eloy.

Pyritz says they are all receiving treatment.

Health officials say anyone who was at a Walgreens store on Pinal Avenue in Casa Grande on Tuesday between 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. could potentially have been exposed to this latest case.

The first two cases of the highly contagious virus were reported on May 26.
