Phoenix police motorcycle officer involved in crash

Northbound I-17 was shut down for six hours on Sunday morning for a crash involving a vehicle and a Phoenix Police officer.

According to Arizona Department of Safety Troopers, the crash happened just after 4:30 a.m., Sunday on northbound I-17 at Union Hills. They say the motorcycle officer collided with a vehicle, shutting down the freeway.

Fortunately, the officer and the second patient are both expected to be OK.

Phoenix Fire Department officials say two people suffered minor injuries in the crash.

The freeway reopened at about 10:40 a.m., Sunday.
